Job description

Flynn Group of Companies is currently looking for a Glazing Project Managerto support our Vancouver Branch located in Surrey, BC ( Office Location - 19175 - 22nd Avenue, Surrey BC V3Z 3S6 ), reporting to the Architectural Operations Manager.


Day in the Life
  • Manage and maintain budgets
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors and with with employees, inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Engage in planning and executing work procedures; interpret specifications, coordinate various phases of construction to prevent delays, and review change orders to ensure additional work is properly completed.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adheres to construction schedules.
  • Consult with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve issues.
  • Respond timely to RFI’s, change in work, including initial response, preparation of change proposals and tracking any change to receipt of change orders.
  • Track and update changes to documents required by customers.
  • Prepare, organize and submit all submittal items not previously submitted by sales team and track to approval.
  • Submit materials as required to customers subcontracts. Where these differ from what was used in proposals, discuss with operations manager prior to submittal.
  • Procure and oversee preparation of shop drawings and engineering as needed. Track to approval.
  • Coordinate the timing and taking off of all field measurements/detailing and incorporating into shop drawings.
  • Attend onsite meetings whether scheduled or otherwise to represent the interests of the company. Review minutes and publish corrections as needed.
  • Preparation and coordination of stock length, accessories, glass orders and fabrication packages.
  • Procurement of materials, labor, purchase orders and subcontracts, as applicable, for all purchases.
  • Coordinate with Construction Manager and Superintendent(s) on all field labor activities including material/equipment needs.
  • Coordinate project billing with Operations Manager and maintain cost management and budget comparisons for assigned jobs.
  • Participate and lead project handover meetings from sales.
  • Preparation of project schedules.
  • Assure that all contract documents are up to date and keep them updated throughout the project.
  • Prepare and submit closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate with Shop fabrication team for all project fabrication requirements as needed.

What We Are Seeking
  • 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager or 10 years’ experience in a Project Coordinator role in a Construction environment
  • Education in a civil engineering / building science program or a related educational field is preferred.
  • Experience in the glazing industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of curtain wall / glazing systems is required
  • Proficiency in MS office package, including MS Project
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to multi task and work in a team environment
