GLAZIER/METAL MECHANIC

Facilities Maintenance Department

Position Status: Regular, 100%

Work Year: 12 months

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8 hours daily between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm, excluding up to one hour unpaid meal period; 40 hours/week

Salary Range: $35.31 to $36.54/hour ($73,439 to $75,998/year)

The Glazier/Metal Mechanic performs duties related to repairing, replacing, and maintaining windows, sashes, frames, screens, etc., ensuring safety, compliance with standards, and proper maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and facilities.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, materials, equipment, and procedures
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills for liaising with colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders
• Initiative and judgment for problem-solving, material selection, and scheduling
• Organization skills to prioritize and adapt to emergencies
• Proficiency with tools such as metal brake, saws, drill press, glass polishers, and hand tools
• Ability to report violations, complete logs and forms, and perform measurements and calculations
• Competence with electronic mail and maintenance management systems
• Completion of secondary school diploma, valid Ontario Trade Certificate, and 5 years of experience in glazier and metal mechanic trades, including 3 years in industrial or commercial maintenance; valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
• Must maintain current licenses/certifications and undertake approved training; police record check required within last 6 months
