Job summary

Durabuilt Windows & Doors Inc. is a leading west‑ern Canada manufacturer based in Edmonton. This role focuses on glazing glass, measuring replacements, and installing sealed units in PVC windows in a fast paced production environment.

You’ll work with a glazing partner, follow safety rules, and report any issues to the team leader. 2+ years glazing experience and proficiency with hand tools are required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years glazing experience.
  • Residential and commercial glazing experience.
  • Proficient with saws and cutting tools.
  • Familiar with measurement units (mm, inches).
  • Experience with Lean and 6S is a plus.

Job duties & Responsibilities:
  • Check glass quality prior to glazing.
  • Focus on putting glass on the product.
  • Scan paperless station and install on glass.
  • Measure glass replacement.
  • Use hand tools to install sealed units into PVC windows in the required sequence specified by the supervisor.
  • Identify and demonstrate the use of PPE required for the safe handling of glass.
  • Focus on attention to detail to ensure precise glazing on the glass.
  • Work with a glazing partner on your daily run of work.
  • Follow company glazing standards.
  • Report any deficiencies to your Cell &/or Team leader so that these issues can be resolved.
  • Identify materials, welds, and other assembly workmanship that does not meet quality requirements, and report the defective material, welds, &/or workmanship to the Team Leader.
  • Complete quality related documents in a timely manner.
  • Complete Production related documents in a timely manner.
  • Keep work area free from clutter, recycling waste, and removing all dust daily.
  • Follow on site safe work practices – Fall Protection training, First Aid, WHMIS.
  • Follow health and safety regulations by wearing required equipment and protection.
  • Identify and demonstrate use of personal protective equipment.
  • Follow all injury prevention policies and procedures.
  • Report all activities and hazards that may create an unsafe work environment.
Experience
  • 2+ years’ experience glazing.
  • Experience working with SDL on doors / windows.
  • Residential and commercial glazing experience. .
  • Proficient knowledge of using saws, cutting tools, and other hand tools.
  • Skilled with various methods of measurement and verification.
  • Comfortable with units of measure such as mm and inches (metric system).
  • Comfortable with computer applications used in the manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6S at work.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and a varied workforce.
Other Requirements
  • Clear criminal background check.
Working Conditions
  • Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 lbs to 50 lbs.
  • Work in a production facility.
  • Repetitive movements and work.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping on a regular basis.
  • Walking near to heavy tool and moving machinery.
  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions, and dirt, dust and noise.
  • Flexibility in scheduling depending on production demands – able to work day &/or evening shift.
  • Opportunity for overtime on short notice due to operational needs.
