Position Summary

We are currently seeking a bookkeeper to join our Insolvency and Restructuring team. The primary responsibility of this role is managing all tax filings for our clients and liaising with CRA. The Bookkeeper reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with a trust accountant.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly HST remittance for all estates
  • Prepare documentation for HST audits and Payroll Trust examinations
  • Open and close HST business numbers for the estates
  • Communicate with CRA on various business account matters
  • Prepare T2 short corporate tax returns
  • Perform additional duties as required

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of related experience
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with insolvency software (Ascend preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Word, QuickBooks, and Excel
  • Accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines
  • Assertiveness and comfort communicating with various individuals
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple overlapping projects
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in accounting is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Office 365
