Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a DevOps/Build Engineer to update and improve GitLab CI/CD components for Java and Maven applications. You will design pipelines, implement caching and parallelization, and manage runners and registries to boost performance and reliability.

You will collaborate with Development, Security, SRE and Platform teams to promote secure, scalable delivery practices and evaluate new GitLab features and the latest DevOps trends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, build engineering or software development.
• Hands-on GitLab CI/CD experience with reusable components, templates, runners, caching and artifacts.
• Hands-on software development experience, preferably with Java and Maven-based apps.
• Experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, security scanning and artifact publishing.
• Experience with GitLab security scanning, Docker and container registries.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Bash or another scripting language.
• Strong troubleshooting across builds, pipelines, runners, containers and security scans.
• Knowledge of CI/CD security and software supply-chain practices.

Responsibilities

• Update, maintain and improve reusable GitLab CI/CD components and templates.
• Design and optimize pipelines for Java and Maven apps, including builds, tests, security scanning and artifact publishing.
• Improve pipeline performance via caching, parallelization and efficient runner usage.
• Manage GitLab runners, container registries, package registries and pipeline artifacts.
• Establish CI/CD standards and best practices while supporting application teams.
• Collaborate with Dev, Sec, SRE and Platform teams to create reusable delivery solutions.
• Evaluate new GitLab features and emerging DevOps practices.
• Troubleshoot issues involving builds, pipelines, runners, containers, registries and security scans.
• Share knowledge through coaching, reviews, training and documentation.
