The City of Burnaby’s Corporate Services Department is seeking a self-motivated and innovative GIS professional to join our GIS Division. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key role as a GIS Systems Administrator, where you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the City’s enterprise GIS environment—including the ESRI GIS platform, Safe Software platform and open-source GIS technologies—to meet the evolving needs of our organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with GIS technology, including hands-on expertise with the ESRI GIS Platform (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, Geodatabases), Safe Software platform (FME Flow-Server, FME Form-Desktop) and open-source GIS Software (e.g., QGIS, PostGIS, GeoServer), along with strong programming (Python, JavaScript, SQL, T-SQL, HTML/CSS, C#), scripting (REST APIs, Bash/Shell Scripting, PowerShell) and project management skills. The candidate will also have strong expertise with the Microsoft suite of tools, including Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and SharePoint, with the ability to integrate these tools into enterprise workflows and dashboards. Additionally, candidates must have a strong working knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems, Active Directory and its associated technologies, as well as an intermediate understanding of computer networking and security. Qualifications include a University degree at the Bachelor’s level in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), supplemented by completion of a spatial information systems post-diploma program, plus considerable related experience in a GIS system infrastructure implementation and management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
