The GIS Practicum Student will provide general GIS support to support the maintenance and updating of ENMAX’s Power Distribution System. During this term, you will gain hands on experience that can be applied towards your GIS education.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintenance and updating of ENMAX’s Power Distribution System’s infrastructure assets using ArcGIS/ArcFM.

  • Create, revise, and maintain various working drawings, circuit maps, schematic drawings, charts, graphs, forms, and other miscellaneous drawings as they pertain to the Power Distribution System.

  • Modify and maintain a variety of databases specifically related to ENMAX Assets.

  • Maintain project time accounting information.

  • Interpret and integrate relevant data from multiple sources, ie. Maps, engineering drawings.

  • Prepare GIS cartographic products.

Education Required:

  • Enrolled in a GIS related degree or certification program that has a work requirement component as part of its curriculum and/or accreditation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in using GIS, Mapping, and CAD software (ESRI Products & Drafting data)

  • Working knowledge and experience using the Microsoft Office suite of software products including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

  • You must have good interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with a wide variety of customers.

  • You must be a self-motivated team player and have the ability to learn and adapt to new and changing technologies and business processes

Salary: Co-op GIS Practicum (CUPE 2024 hourly rates)

$24.22 – $27.06

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
