Under the direction of the Manager, Data Analytics & Geospatial Services, the GIS Analyst is responsible for the design, development, integration, maintenance and implementation of Geospatial business applications for the Town of Newmarket. This position is focused on supporting Enterprise Asset Management initiatives for the Data Analytics & Geospatial Services team.
Job Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Geography or related field with specialization in GIS and Geomatics or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Progressively responsible and practical experience in GIS principals and use of Esri’s GIS software (ArcGISPro, ArcSDE, ArcGIs Enterprise, ArcGIS Server) and techniques for database development, web environments, databases, user requirements and/or spatial information management.
- Knowledge of and experience working with relational database systems (Oracle, SQL Server), spatial databases including standards, design and data modelling.
- Knowledge of traditional data warehousing, extract-transformation-load (ETL, FME by Safe Software) solutions.
- Experience configuring and developing Ersi web mapping applications, (Field Maps, Experience Builder, Dashboards).
- Strong prioritizing, problem solving, negotiation, collaboration, organizational and planning skills as well as the ability to multi-task.
- Strong verbal and written communication as well as report writing skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) as well as web technologies and cloud computing opportunities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise judgement.
- Excellent team effectiveness skills and the ability to work in concert with staff, contractors, consultants, the public, and other government agencies.
- Valid Class “G” driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle for travel to offsite meetings, facilities, parks, construction sites.
- Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required.
