Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Our Clerks serve two main functions: 1) ensure the safety of passengers, volunteers, and employees, and 2) provide excellent customer service to our passengers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide superior customer service at all times.
  • Update gift shop inventory, including stocking shelves and pricing items.
  • Operate a Point of Sale system, handle cash, process credit card payments, make deposits, and reconcile cash drawer balances at the end of shifts.
  • Work environment includes gift shop and concession train car.
  • Prepare concession items based on expected daily passenger count.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Gift Shop and concession area.
  • Close and secure the Gift Shop at the end of business.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in other areas as needed or directed by the Gift Shop Manager.
  • Provide First Aid/CPR/AED in emergencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal interference.
  • Willingness to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED if not already certified.
  • Pass background check (criminal and financial).
  • Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.

  • Verbal comprehension to understand oral and written communications.
  • Effective communication skills to provide clear instructions.
  • Reasoning skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Time management skills to prioritize and manage activities effectively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequently sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach, write, talk, type, and hear. Occasionally sit, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift/move up to 35 lbs.
