Position: Category Manager

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Category Management, the Category Manager will support the development and implementation of category strategies to drive sales and profit growth, as defined by senior management as being most important to achieve the organization's annual financial and marketing objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate regional business agreements with suppliers, advertising and promotional plans, etc.
  • Analyze and manage sales reports weekly and take actions to optimize category performance.
  • Develop and monitor category strategies and plans for all elements of the merchandising mix, including product mix, pricing, promotions, and branding.
  • Update category planograms to meet growth objectives according to schedule.
  • Develop marketing strategies for flyers and beauty catalogs.
  • Ensure profitability and optimize margins for wholesale and retail.
  • Manage category budgets.
  • Adjust retail prices based on competitive analysis.
  • Stay informed of market trends and competition to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide expertise and support to stores.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure product alignment and pricing.
  • Prepare monthly business updates for senior management.
  • Analyze market data (e.g., AC Nielsen, household scans) to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Negotiate supplier participation in sales events.
  • Communicate category strategies to stores.
  • Respond promptly to stakeholder requests and resolve issues.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • College or university degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive experience in category management and analysis.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English, with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PowerBi.
  • Superior organizational and planning skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and management effectively.
