Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development and Strategic Procurement: IOR model, the Private Label Category Manager will support the sourcing and expansion of McKesson Canada’s direct to factory sourced Controlled Brand through the negotiation of the cost of acquisition.

A seasoned negotiator with both excellent planning and problem-solving skills, the Private Label Category Manager is accountable for establishing and maintaining vendor and global stakeholder relationships. The role will be responsible to work closely and leverage the Global Sourcing organization to secure new PPE, OTC, and CPG vendors for the Canadian landscape at a competitive cost. In addition, the role possesses a thorough understanding of commercial requirements in both a domestic and importation Strategic Sourcing environment.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

  • Global Sourcing Importation Model and Controlled Brand COGS /RFP negotiations (55%), Leverages MGPS team to expand direct to factory sourcing and the launch of Controlled Brand offerings which will include PPE medical supplies, OTC and CPG categories.
  • Supports the Controlled Brand committee in identifying opportunities with Global Sourcing while leveraging Global Sourcing volume pricing.
  • Coordinates with Global Sourcing to identify vendors able to supply the Canadian market and initiate act as Importer of Record.
  • Leverage the Canadian volumes to consolidate under one label based on brand committee recommendations.
  • Develops pipeline of products in collaboration with the retail and MGPS team and manages project launches as needed to deliver intended results.
  • Works with key internal McKesson stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Account Management, Distribution center (DC) Operations to ensure optimized revenues, appropriate risk management, and effective conflict mitigation, escalation and resolution.
  • Establishes Inventory processes and structure with MSD (3pl) Vendor and Controlled Brand Retail Relationship Management (30%) Manages the Controlled Brand vendor relationships and assesses financial state, supplier performance, product mix, and market growth opportunities of categories to formulate overall strategic plan of action.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders including Category Management, Ops teams, Control Brand Sourcing teams, Global Sourcing teams, and management to ensure effective collaboration and execution.
  • Develop and execute on project plans and ensure plan is communicated to stakeholders which include: Controlled Brand Committee, DC Operations, Procurement Operations, Sales, Finance, Listing.
  • Assesses Control Brand vendor performance against established KPIs and prioritizes vendor development efforts accordingly.
  • Collaborates with McKesson Canada QA and regulatory team on all importation activities.
  • Contract Management (5%) Ensure Global Sourcing and McK Canada legal teams are made aware of exploratory discussions. Once awarded, ensure a revised DSA and an Inter-company Agreement are drafted and finalized with the manufacturer and between Global Sourcing and McK Canada via MSD (3Pl).
  • Oversees contract management over its lifecycle and is a subject matter expert for vendors on strategic matters across portfolio of products and market dynamics.
  • Manages content and planning of business reviews; leads or participates in specific reviews or other meetings as required.
  • Negotiates, drafts, finalizes and obtains signoff of Supplier, Service and various other contracts and agreements with Controlled Brand vendors.
  • Financials and Inventory management (5%) Reports to Senior Management on financial performance – Profit & Loss (P&L) – for Controlled Brand Category agreements.
  • Collaborates with the Controlled Brand business Analyst to track financial performance of negotiated agreements.

Section B – General Responsibilities

  • Maintains relevant business knowledge of product categories and stays abreast of market and industry trends and conditions.
  • Acts as a McKesson ambassador of corporate values.

Section C – Position Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years working experience in the field.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance or equivalent.

Technical and Soft Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Bilingual (spoken/written English and French).
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with various levels of management and employees.

Management skills

  • Solid experience working with senior management.
  • Ability to work as part of multi-functional teams.
  • Strong sense of summary and ability to synthesize, whilst being detail oriented.

The incumbent of this position will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States. Therefore, he/she must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$66,400 - $110,600
