Position Summary

GES 100 – World Regional Geography: An introduction to the human and natural environments from a geographical perspective. The fundamental themes of human and physical geography are examined by focusing upon global issues and regional patterns.

Position Requirements

  • Hold, at a minimum, an MA/MSc degree in Geography or Environmental Studies (or a directly related discipline such as Environmental Science or Earth Sciences), and be able to demonstrate an ability to teach the course in question;
  • Those applicants with PhDs, as well as those enrolled in a PhD program, will be given preference over those with the MA/MSc degree;
  • Have a record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level;
  • Have experience managing classroom and online technologies used by the University of Regina (including UR Courses [Moodle]).

An applicant with lower academic qualifications may be selected over an applicant with higher academic qualifications when it is clear that the former has more professional experience in the field and/or has a demonstrably superior mastery of the subject matter of the course.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, and the work associated with this position must be performed within Canada.

Work Hours: The instructor will deliver the course online. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week.

Course Dates and Time: Online, with an in-person final exam on April 28 from 09:00-12:00
Duration: January 1 - April 30, 2026. Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work before the start date and may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
