An established language school is seeking a passionate individual to lead its new Germanic Language section. This part-time role offers the opportunity to develop and teach a curriculum in German and English, with potential growth into a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in German by June 2024 and a strong interest in language education. This startup environment is perfect for someone eager to innovate and contribute to a growing program. If you are enthusiastic about language learning and want to make a lasting impact, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Job Brief: Sepia Language Study is a new language school located in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Sepia was created by a teacher and doctoral candidate who sought to provide high-quality world language instruction without the limitations of traditional public school positions. We opened in Fall 2022 offering all levels of Spanish and French, and our school immediately took off very quickly. There are very few competing language schools in our area, and even fewer that offer advanced level courses. Currently led entirely by the instructor/owner (specialized in Romance Languages), we are hoping to expand next school year and open a Germanic Language section as well, beginning with both German and English for Speakers of Other Languages. We are looking for someone to head the Germanic Language section of our school as we expand, and someone who is knowledgeable enough about other Germanic languages to help hire other Germanic teachers in the future. The ideal candidate has or will have completed a bachelor's degree in German by June 2024 with work experience and/or training in TESOL. Current teaching experience is not required, and in fact, we would prefer to find someone for whom advanced language study is still fresh, and whose passion and creativity for language learning has not yet been dampened by work that does not allow for it. This business is a startup, and we are seeking an enthusiastic partner who shares our vision and is interested in committing to building up this program long term.
This is a part-time position that will steadily increase each term for the first school year, with the potential to become full-time after that. Pay is dependent on student enrollment, and will range from $16 to $60 hourly. This job would be well-suited for someone in their final year of college who is looking for part-time work that then leads to a full-time position in the future, or someone looking to supplement a current full or part-time position with the intention of later shifting focus away from it and entirely to this new project when able.
