Job summary

CBCL Limited seeks seasonal Geotechnical & Materials Technicians/Technologists for our NB and NS offices, including Bedford, NB/NS. You will join a team of engineers and technologists in a geotechnical and materials engineering division serving various sectors.

Responsibilities include field QA/QC testing, lab testing, and client interface. Beginners welcome with asset for QA/QC, construction, or inspection experience. Valid driver’s license required; TechNova/NBSCETT registration is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology preferred.
• Recent civil engineering graduates considered.
• No experience required; QA/QC, heavy civil construction or inspection experience a plus.
• TechNova/NBSCETT registration eligibility asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC field testing and inspection of concrete, soil, and asphalt.
• Carry out field review of civil construction works.
• Carry out laboratory testing on soils, rock, concrete, and asphalt materials.
• Assist with geotechnical investigations – sampling soil/rock from boreholes and test pits.
• Interface with clients on laboratory and field test results.

Job description

We are currently looking for seasonal Geotechnical & Materials Technicians/ Technologists to join our dynamic team in our geotechnical and materials engineering New Brunswick and Nova Scotia offices located in Fredericton, NB, Moncton, NB and Bedford, NS. The successful candidates will demonstrate initiative and excel in fast-paced environments. You will work with a team of engineers and other technologists/technicians.

Our geotechnical and materials division specializes in geotechnical and materials engineering consulting. This division of CBCL has grown to become a leading regional provider of these engineering services to the commercial, institutional, heavy industrial, transportation, municipal infrastructure, energy & utilities, and large residential sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance/quality control field testing and inspection of concrete, soil, and asphalt;
• Carry out field review of civil construction works;
• Carry out laboratory testing on soils, rock, concrete, and asphalt materials;
• Assist with geotechnical investigations – including the sampling of soil and rock from boreholes and test pits; and
• Interface with clients on laboratory and field test results.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology preferred;
• Recent Civil Engineering University graduates will be considered;
• No prior experience required however, any experience with QA/QC testing, building and heavy civil construction, and/or inspection services would be considered an asset; and
• Registration or eligibility for registration with TechNova or NBSCETT would be an asset.

• Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills;
• A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office;
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team in various environments; and;
• Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to travel to job sites.
