Stantec's Energy and Resources team delivers geotechnical solutions for mining, tailings, waste rock, dams, water storage, water conveyance, and hydropower projects. Our work supports projects from early site characterization and planning through analysis, design, construction, operation, and closure.

We have an exciting opportunity for a 2027 Geotechnical Engineering Co-op Student to join us for a term length that is flexible from 4 months to 18 month term commencing Summer 2027.

Aufgaben

• Support engineers and geoscientists with mining geotechnical work for tailings storage facility, waste rock structure, open pit and other mining infrastructure.
• Assist with geotechnical calculations and analyses, which may include seepage, slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, deformation analysis, earthworks quantities, and material-property assessments under the guidance of experienced practitioners.
• Support to develop borehole and test pit logs, in-situ test results, laboratory data, instrumentation records, drawings, and other field documentation.
• Assist with geotechnical material characterization and the selection of parameters for engineering design and analysis.
• Support field investigations, construction observations, quality-assurance activities, and site documentation, as project needs require.

Through active involvement in project-related tasks and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, interns gain practical exposure to engineering consulting, develop technical and professional skills, and learn how academic concepts are applied in real-world projects.
