Summary of Position

This position involves field and office work related to geotechnical investigation and instrumentation activities. Responsibilities include Terrain Stability Assessments (TSAs) in accordance with EGBC guidelines, supervision of geotechnical drilling/sampling, data analysis, and assisting in preparing project proposals and reports.

Location: Prince George, Kimberley, or Fort St. John, BC

Accountabilities

  1. Plan, manage, and conduct Terrain Stability Assessments for cutblock and road development projects.
  2. Supervise and perform geotechnical drilling/sampling using various techniques, including solid/hollow stem augers, mud/air rotary, ODEX, and coring, for ground-supported and helicopter-supported drilling programs. Field work as required.
  3. Conduct site visits to assess drilling equipment access to planned borehole locations.
  4. Install geotechnical instrumentation, analyze data, and assist with reporting.
  5. Assist in preparing geotechnical reports.
  6. Contribute to geotechnical analysis and design for facilities such as pump stations, compressor stations, and valve sites, focusing on foundation and site development.
  7. Provide expertise in slope stability assessment (rock and soil) and suggest solutions.
  8. Manage geotechnical scope for various projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
  9. Maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, staff, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 4 years of geotechnical consulting experience.
  2. Experience with pipeline geotechnics, road design, slope stability, and instrumentation monitoring is a strong asset.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  4. Experience with ArcGIS is advantageous.
  5. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC (EGBC).
  6. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, positive attitude.
  7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  8. Willingness to learn and assume additional responsibilities.
  9. Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  10. Ability to travel to remote locations and work in the field periodically.
