Job summary

Leading Edge is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to support investigations, analysis, and design for civil infrastructure projects in Calgary. You will assess soil and subsurface conditions and provide practical recommendations for foundations, earthworks, slopes, and retaining systems. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience.

Proficiency with GeoStudio, PLAXIS, gINT/OpenGround, and AutoCAD is expected. P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and earthworks.
• Experience with geotechnical investigation and testing methods.
• Ability to interpret geotechnical and laboratory data.
• Proficiency with software such as GeoStudio, PLAXIS, gINT/OpenGround, AutoCAD or similar.
• Strong technical report-writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Canadian engineering standards and practices is an asset.
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility for professional registration in Canada is an asset.
• Valid authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and subsurface exploration.
• Analyze soil and rock properties, groundwater conditions, and site constraints.
• Perform geotechnical calculations and analyses for foundations, slopes, excavations, and retaining systems.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, technical specifications, drawings, and recommendations.
• Provide input for foundations, earthworks, pavement systems, and settlement analysis.
• Review laboratory and field testing results and interpret geotechnical data.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, environmental, and construction teams.
• Support project planning, cost estimates, proposals, and construction activities.
• Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian standards, codes, and safety requirements.
