McElhanney seeks a Geomatics / Survey New Graduate to start their career in Terrace, BC. You will gain hands-on survey experience across field and office environments, supporting projects across Northwest BC and learning from experienced professionals.

Starting in May 2027 or after graduation, you will work with GNSS, total stations, and surveying data, expanding practical skills and contributing to land development, municipal, and transportation projects in a fast-paced, outdoors-oriented

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related program (completed or near completion).
• Genuine interest in field-based, hands-on work.
• Physical ability to work on active sites and varied terrain.
• Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in sometimes remote environments.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and clear communication skills.
• Previous outdoor, field, construction, municipal, or land development experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support field crews using GNSS receivers for RTK, static measurements, and total stations.
• Work closely with Project Managers to prepare survey files, plans, and data for project delivery.
• Research plans, titles, records, and other geospatial information.
• Maintain, monitor, and report on the condition of survey equipment and vehicles.
• Work across both field and office environments, supporting municipal, land development, transportation, utility, and community infrastructure projects.
• Learn and operate emerging technologies such as drones, 3D laser scanning, and unmanned survey equipment.
• Participate in McElhanney’s safety practices, ensuring Think Safe, Work Safe, and Get Home Safe.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Geomatics / Survey New Graduate who is ready to launch their career in Terrace, BC. In this role, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across both field and office environments, supporting survey and geomatics work on a variety of projects across Northwest BC. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, build practical technical skills, and contribute to projects that support communities, infrastructure, and land development across the region.

Starting in May (Summer) 2027 or after graduation, you’ll be exposed to a wide range of surveying and geomatics work, using industry‑leading technology while building practical skills quickly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, active project work, and learning directly from experienced professionals.

What Can We Offer You?

The wage range for this position is $56,000 - $77,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
