A leading company in engineering and consulting services seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to join their Burnaby office. In this role, you will coordinate field investigations, prepare detailed technical reports, and manage projects while collaborating with diverse teams across Western Canada. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, possesses at least five years of geotechnical experience, and is motivated to deliver excellent client service.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with EGBC or an equivalent.
  • Expertise in mix asphalt design and complex pavement investigations.

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Geotechnical team, based in our Burnaby office. Not only will you be given an opportunity to help bring local geotechnical projects to life; but you will also have a chance to collaborate with EXP team members across Western Canada on some very large and challenging projects!

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Coordinating and participating in field investigations and QA/QC inspections;
  • Preparation of proposals and technical reports;
  • Conducting detailed design and analysis for a variety of geotechnical projects;
  • Coordinating on designs with other engineering disciplines for multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Managing small to medium sized projects, including cost monitoring, schedule control, communications with clients, and contract documentation; and,
  • Support the development of the Earth & Environmental group by developing relationships with existing and future client contacts, attending meetings, and supporting Business Development initiatives.

What your experience looks like

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university
  • Must be registered with EGBC or another Canadian equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical and materials testing
  • Knowledge of current pavement construction methods, materials and specifications;
  • Land development market experience will be an asset.
  • Expertise in mix asphalt design (Marshall and SuperPave) and familiar with the Ministry/Government directives on mix requirement;
  • Experience with complex pavement investigations and design work;
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Motivated to provide excellent client service and enjoy working in a team environment;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated interest and sensitivity toward occupational health and safety and our quality management system
