Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will leading the Geology Department including Mine Site Exploration and Production. You will ensure the proper geological practices of the team are being followed in terms of planning, organizing, managing and controlling programs to define and extract the mineral reserves/resources existing at the mining site and in its’ vicinity. You will also play an important role in the life of mine and departmental cost management. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Manage the geology team, directing workflow and planning for the different workforce needs while ensuring proper levels of efficiency and productivity
- Propose and recommend mine site exploration, conversion and delineation drilling programs or any specific program required
- Supervise the production geology team responsible for the grade control and reconciliation protocols at the mine and ensure proper calibration of the mineral reserve and resource model
- Plan, propose, recommend and follow-up on budgets (yearly and life of mine) for the Geology Department
- Ensure proper reporting of the different geology activities (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly)
- Support the site QP with planning and overseeing mineral resources and mineral reserves estimates of the mine and developing projects while complying with laws and regulations
- Participate in the assessment of the mineral potential of acquisition and exploration projects, and analyze associated risks and opportunities
- Contribute to economic preliminary studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, coordinating the work of the team with the work of other disciplines, producing technical reports
- Provide and coordinate technical support in geology to operations and exploration divisions
- Assess, organize and approve the required departmental trainings
- Keep the department at the forefront of new technologies, following the best practices in the mining industry
- Respect and promote the standards of the company and the governmental policies and regulations at play
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in underground and/or open pit mining, production and exploration for gold (narrow vein type experience an asset)
- Hold all qualifications and requirements to act as a Qualified Person as defined in the NI-43-101 standard
- Supervisory experience and strong leadership capabilities are a must
- Proficient in geological modelling and resource estimation software (e.g., DataMine, Leapfrog, Deswik)
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days off at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
