Who We Are
Northern Hawk Energy Ltd. (“Northern Hawk”) is a growing junior energy company based in Calgary. Northern Hawk’s experienced management team has a track record of success and significant depth of experience in the Canadian Oil and Gas sector. The company currently owns and operates a thermal heavy oil project near Kerrobert, SK. Northern Hawk has a solid base of production and cashflow and plans to continue to grow both our production and our team over the next few years.
What we are Looking for
Northern Hawk Energy Ltd. is looking for a motivated and inquisitive Geologist to join our team.Reporting to VP Exploration and Geoscience, the selected individual will be accountable to provide integrated geologic interpretations, and plan and execute delineation and horizontal SAGD well campaigns that will support current and future Heavy Oil projects in Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, collaborative and outcome focused with a positive attitude. This a full-time, contract position, based in the Calgary office and includes periodic on-call responsibilities outside of normal office hours.
Key Accountabilities
·On-call responsibilities working directly with wellsite geologists and drilling engineers to deliver lateral trajectories that maximize resource recovery.
·Support near-field exploration and delineation through mapping and detailed geological evaluation, value capture, and risk mitigation.
·Provide geological support to M&A activities.
What You Bring to the Role
Our ideal candidate will bring the following skills, experience, and aptitude:
·Junior to intermediate experience level (5-10 years) with a Master of Science in Geology.
·Demonstrated independent problem-solving, communication, and organization skills
·Self-starter who is collaborative and outcome focused, aligned on team objectives and strategies.
·Work closely with others to develop, test, share, and mature ideas
·Nimble and adaptable to evolving roles and duties
·Understanding of Mannville stratigraphy and depositional environments, especially in eastern Alberta, western Saskatchewan.
·Fluency in standard geoscience software such as geoSCOUT and Seisware, as well as standard suites such as Microsoft Office
·Experience in horizontal well planning/drilling, with preference given to candidates with experience managing well delivery from the office.
·Experience in core collection, description, and interpretation to steer project development decisions.
·Data driven, integrating seismic, core, well log and other subsurface data into working geological models.
·Demonstrated ability to generate and progress prospects.
·Registration with APEGA, eligibility for APEGS accreditation.
·Legally authorized to work in Canada
