Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Geographic Information Systems Architect position in the Technology & Digital Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Business Value Delivery, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Architect is responsible for the overall design, development, implementation, and management of the County’s GIS environment, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational goals. This position provides strategic direction for the County’s GIS infrastructure, applications, and spatial data, overseeing the architecture, integration, and governance of geospatial systems. This position is responsible for the County’s spatial ecosystem, ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency of spatial data repositories and enterprise databases that enable critical decision-making and analysis. This position develops enhancements of GIS applications, integrations, and workflows, leveraging emerging technologies to maximize value and usability. As a subject matter expert (SME), this position provides specialized technical guidance to internal and external partners, ensuring GIS solutions align with County priorities and industry best practices. This position has a key role in governance, risk management, and policy development, optimizing GIS investments and ensuring compliance with security and operational standards. Additionally, the role works as part of a team of technical experts to capture business needs, identify opportunities, and develop solutions that drive business value.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
A starting annual salary of $90,500 to $97,900, with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $114,500, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
