Qualifications

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Geo-Exchange Driller (or Driller Apprentice) will be responsible for providing drilling and Geo-Exchange system installation duties.

What You'll Do Here:
  1. Operate drilling equipment, while following all standard operating procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.
  2. Setup and maintain hose/lines for air, water and drill cuttings discharge.
  3. Clean and maintain equipment and tooling.
  4. Perform daily and weekly maintenance and assist in repair of drilling equipment.
  5. Inventory management and data entry of QA/QC information.
  6. Multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g., load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction materials; move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas).
  8. Support U-Bend loop installation and grouting by operating grouter, tremie reel, despooler and other related equipment.
  9. Instruct and train junior personnel in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment.
  10. Complete work-related safety documents and submit in a timely manner.
  11. Carry out manual labour duties such as lifting and working with materials weighing up to 25kg.
  12. Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring to the Team:
  1. Minimum of 2 years relevant experience on single rotary, dual rotary, and/or air drilling (water well, micropiling, geo-exchange, tie backs, etc.)
  2. Required Tickets: MOL 4 Step Safety Awareness, Ontario Working at Heights, Valid Drivers License, Skid Steer or Telehandler ticket.
  3. Capacity for manual dexterity with physical strength and stamina.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work on teams with a desire to provide excellent customer service.
  5. Ability to interpret drawings, develop/interpret work instructions, and plan projects for self and others an asset.
  6. Energy to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
  7. Capability to work long hours per day in all weather conditions.
  8. Strong interpersonal, team participation and communication skills.
  9. Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
  10. Metatarsal guarded steel toed CSA rubber boots required.
  11. A willingness to work in a unionized environment.

Preferred (but not required) Tickets: H2S Alive, CSTS, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, Energy Safety Canada 1st Supervisors Blow Out Prevention, Resources Drilling Technician Diploma, Rig Technician, Earth loop technician, Ground Disturbance Level II.
