Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Software Developer, Genome Diagnostics Informatics to design, build, validate, and deploy software solutions for clinical genomic testing. You will support laboratory operations, data management, reporting, and BI workflows, collaborating with bioinformaticians, scientists, clinicians, and IT teams.

The role emphasizes rigorous software development, documentation, and change control in a diagnostic environment, with opportunities to advance automation

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biology, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Two years of experience developing, maintaining, and operating software applications in a production environment.
• Proficiency with Python, R, Java, and JavaScript.
• Experience in Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Full-stack development, APIs, web services, and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, validation, documentation, and deployment of software applications and interfaces for Genome Diagnostics laboratory operations.
• Develop and enhance applications for laboratory tracking, workflow automation, data management, and reporting.
• Build interfaces between systems for data flow and integration with LIMS and related systems.
• Gather requirements from multiple stakeholders and translate into maintainable solutions.
• Automate inefficient processes and perform systems analysis for timelines and prioritization.
• Write clean, tested code and manage deployments across environments.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, production support, and documentation.
