Job summary

THUNDER BAY REGIONAL HEALTH SCIENCES CENTRE in Northwestern Ontario is seeking a Genetic Counsellor on a temporary full-time basis within the Genetics Counselling Program. The role involves providing counselling to individuals and families, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team to apply clinical genetics knowledge.

Applicants must hold a Master of Science in Genetic Counselling (or be a regulated health professional with Ontario regulatory college membership), have at least two years

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counselling or an equivalent regulated health professional with unrestricted Ontario college membership.
• Recent genetic counselling experience (min. 2 years); new graduates encouraged to apply.
• CBGC certification is an asset.
• Excellent knowledge of clinical genetics as it applies to genetic counselling.
• Strong interpersonal, administrative and time-management abilities; ability to prioritize and organize resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling to individuals and families seeking information due to family history or suspected diagnosis of a genetic condition.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, offering expertise in clinical genetics and communicating with patients.
• Apply knowledge to guide decisions and support PFCC principles in patient care.
