Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking an AI Scientist on the AI Value Creation team to design, train, and deploy ML models and AI solutions that advance client experience and organizational performance. You’ll translate business needs into data-driven outcomes using generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and multi-agent systems, with a focus on production reliability.

The role offers hybrid work, flexible scheduling, and strong professional development through internal training and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Math, Statistics, OR related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience developing, training, validating, and deploying ML models in production.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI technologies including LLMs, RAG, or agentic systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for analytics and AI solutions.
• Experience with cloud environments and development tools such as AWS, Snowflake, Git, GitHub Copilot, and Jenkins.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary initiatives that combine technical expertise with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and optimize machine learning models addressing strategic business needs.
• Develop generative AI and agentic AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, and multi-agent systems.
• Collaborate with business partners to translate needs into practical AI solutions.
• Develop and maintain components to train, evaluate, deploy, and improve AI solutions.
• Conduct rigorous assessments to ensure performance, robustness, and reliability in production.
• Support teams in adopting AI governance, risk management, and best practices.
