Job summary

EA SPORTS in Canada is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, develop, and ship core game systems across PC and consoles.

You will collaborate with designers, producers, and engineers to translate creative concepts into reliable software, optimize performance, and contribute to a vibrant team culture.

The role requires 6+ years of experience in software engineering, strong C++ skills, and the ability to debug complex issues while working across multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in game development.
  • Professional C++ development experience.
  • Proven debugging skills for complex bugs.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Ability to understand and modify existing code quickly.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, producers, and disciplines.
  • Experience shipping on PC and PlayStation/Xbox.

Your Responsibilities
  • Participate with design and development of core systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations to ensure seamless integration and delivery of a feature.
  • Help drive technical innovation and excellence, optimising code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Work with designers and producers to translate creative concepts into reliable software solutions.
  • Be responsible for your own work, collaborating in code reviews and contributing to the quality of the code base.
  • Share progress with your team, reporting to technical leadership and production, collaborating with the wider team and being an active participant in team culture.
Your Qualifications
  • 6+ years experience in software engineering, preferably within game development.
  • Strong experience working in C++ software development at a professional level.
  • Experience debugging complex bugs through multiple techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and OO design principles
  • Ability to quickly understand existing and unfamiliar code and modify it.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with multiple disciplines
  • Experience working on PC and either/or PlayStation and Xbox
Pay Transparency - North America

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

Compensation And Benefits

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.

PAY RANGES
  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$122,300 - $170,700 CAD

For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.
