Job Description

The successful candidate will be a General Transportation Claims Adjuster working in a hybrid setup in Edmonton, Alberta. They will evaluate large loss claims, focusing on property (commercial and transportation) claims, through loss investigation. The role involves negotiating settlements in accordance with provincial licensing requirements, maintaining production levels, and fostering customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  1. Review and analyze experts’ reports.
  2. Select and direct independent experts.
  3. Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities.
  4. Manage litigation disposition plans and budgets.
  5. Accurately record file activities and transactions in Crawford and Company systems and client-based systems.
  6. Maintain accurate expense accounts.
  7. Collaborate with the manager to maintain client relationships.
  8. Liaise with all facets of the insurance community, including brokers, risk managers, legal counsel, and regulators.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of claims handling experience in large loss, transportation, heavy equipment, and cargo losses.
  • Construction and property background, with expertise in project management, quantification, and appraisal, is preferred.
  • Experience in interpreting commercial policies and making market recommendations.
  • Active adjuster license or working towards CIP and/or FCIP designation.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to loss sites.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Team player with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with growth opportunities.
