The location in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of General Shift Supervisor, Thunder Bay Sawmill. This job is full-time permanent.

General Shift Supervisor, Thunder Bay Sawmill

Resolute Forest Products is seeking candidates for the position of General Shift Supervisor (Sawmill / Planer) for our flagship 335 million board foot Sawmill at Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide shift supervision and coordination of maintenance activities during daily operations.
  • Assist with the efficient, safe lumber finishing production, and related scheduling logistics with the assigned workforce.
  • Ensure application of highest safety standards for sawmill and yard operations.
  • Work with production teams to maximize the use of materials, personnel, and equipment to meet or exceed production goals, quality, and financial performance.
  • Direct and guide employees to help them achieve their maximum level of effectiveness; identify and meet their training needs.
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisors to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure product quality meets customer requirements by performing required inspections.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve production procedures, equipment performance, and working conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with company rules, policies, programs, and applicable laws relating to health and safety.
  • Perform all administrative tasks related to production, maintenance, health and safety, and training.
Your Profile:
  • Technical diploma or related industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated progression in leadership roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and adapt quickly to change.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills.
  • Self-motivated individual focused on Safety & Reliability Excellence.
  • Good working knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment.
