Clinic Details — Penticton Regional Hospital

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility serving approximately 90,000 people in the Okanagan Health Service Area. It provides 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services. As a regional and secondary referral center for South Okanagan and the Similkameen Valley, PRH hosts a team of medical and surgical specialists, with on-site CT and part-time MRI, and a 7-bed ICU. It also serves as a referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for smaller hospitals in Oliver and Princeton. The hospital recently expanded with the David E. Kampe Tower, including new inpatient beds, ambulatory care, surgical services, and more, with further expansion planned.

Practice Details

The hospital seeks a .8 FTE General Pathologist (AP/CP) to join a 4.8 FTE pathology team. The group handles approximately 10,000 surgical pathology cases annually, along with bone marrow biopsies, cytopathology, and autopsies. The role involves quality assurance and teaching responsibilities. Most services are under provincial contract, with potential fee-for-service billing for certain procedures. The ideal candidate is an experienced general pathologist, with additional experience in dermatology, breast, or GI pathology considered an asset. Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative relationships with hospital staff are essential. Leadership development opportunities are available through the NAVIG8 Program, designed to foster emerging physician leaders.
