Job description

Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Drumheller Health Centre invites applications for an Obstetrician & Gynecologist to establish a full-time practice in the community of Drumheller. This position requires a scope of practice that includes: Community Clinic, Complete Gynecological and Obstetrical Surgeries, Consults in the Emergency Department, Acute Care, Long Term Care and Specialist On-Call Coverage.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Reside in and have their primary residence within the community of Drumheller;
  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
  • Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
  • Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Obstetrics and Gynecology call schedule, as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology;
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
  • Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
  • Have specialty certification or equivalent in Obstetrics & Gynecology, or currently be enrolled in an Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program;
  • Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required;
  • Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently (MOREOB) / Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM);

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO)
