Job description

This is a General Manager position responsible for all US Regulatory functions with the NRC, based in Vancouver, BC. While we prefer candidates from the local area, applications from the continental US, Canada, and North America are welcome.

Requirement: Must have experience working with the application process with the NRC Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The role oversees R&D, engineering, regulatory compliance, and licensing for our next-generation nuclear reactor design with the NRC. Ideal candidates will have expertise in nuclear engineering, strong project management skills, budgeting experience, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on schedule. The GM will coordinate across university labs, national labs, engineering partners, and licensing authorities to advance our SMR program. Regulatory application to the NRC is crucial.

  • Develop relationships with engineering, operations, legal, and environmental firms to address licensing requirements and resolve regulatory issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies to obtain licenses for new nuclear reactor designs.
  • Prepare and review licensing documents, including applications, reports, amendments, and renewal requests, compliant with NRC requirements.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Support safety analyses, environmental reports, and risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory meetings, representing the company's licensing interests.
  • Develop business plans and budgets for various projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics (or a related field) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear technologies, including SMRs, advanced reactors, LWR, HTGR, molten salt, and liquid metal reactors.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to perform trade studies and make recommendations based on first principles.
  • Deep understanding of NRC regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of preparing clear regulatory documentation.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and disciplines.
  • Knowledge of industrial markets and integration with nuclear technologies.
  • Commitment to Nuclear Safety Culture principles.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
