Job description

This is a General Manager handling all US Regulatory functions with the NRC, This role in Vancouver, BC. We would like to have someone from the local area, however, please apply if in the continental US, Canada, North America.

THIS ROLE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS WITH THE NRC NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION

This role will oversee R&D, engineering, regulatory compliance, and licensing for our next-generation nuclear reactor design WITH THE (NRC) Nuclear Regulatory commission. Ideal candidates can bring expertise in nuclear engineering – along with strong project management skills, budgeting experience, and a history of delivering complex projects on schedule. The GM will be a key connector across university labs, national labs, engineering partners, and licensing authorities to drive our SMR program forward. Regulaory application to the NRC is crucial.

  • Develop relationships with engineering, operations, legal, and environmental firms to address engineering and licensing requirements and resolve regulatory issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies to obtain licenses for new nuclear reactor design.
  • Prepare and review licensing documents, including licensing applications, regulatory reports, amendment requests, and license renewal applications, in compliance with NRC requirements.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Support safety analyses, environmental reports, and risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory meetings, representing the company's licensing interests.
  • Develop business plans and budgets for various projects

Qualifications :

  • A bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics (or a closely related field) from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear technologies, including conventional nuclear plants, SMRs, advanced reactors, LWR, HTGR, molten salt, and liquid metal.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals, even with partial information.
  • Strong understanding of NRC regulations and related industry standards
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise regulatory documentation.
  • Proven ability to work across functions / industries / disciplines
  • Understanding of industrial markets and integration with nuclear technologies
  • Understanding and proven track record of embracing Nuclear Safety Culture principles
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
