We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented professional to take on the pivotal role of General Manager for Londonderry Shopping Centre, a super-regional retail destination in North Edmonton. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, Commercial Properties, the General Manager will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction and overseeing the day-to-day operations of this high-profile property. This is a unique opportunity to drive value creation, foster tenant relationships, and ensure long-term success in a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence: Lead continuous property improvements to maintain high standards of operation.
  • Financial Optimization: Leverage resources to enhance financial performance and maximize stakeholder returns.
  • Strategic Leasing: Collaborate on long-term leasing and development strategies, focusing on tenant mix and vacancy reduction.
  • Tenant Relations: Drive tenant sales growth to attract new tenants and retain existing ones, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and inspire the on-site management team to achieve their full potential.
  • Budget Management: Prepare comprehensive annual budgets, including income, expense, and capital forecasts. Monitor common area expenses and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Collections Oversight: Ensure effective receivables management to maintain financial health.
  • Marketing and Promotions: Develop and oversee marketing and promotional budgets, raising the property’s profile in the community.
  • Safety and Security: Review and implement security plans, ensuring adequate coverage and adherence to policies.
  • Maintenance and Compliance: Supervise maintenance and repair activities, ensuring all operations meet safety standards and corporate policies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Dynamic Leadership: A proactive, organized, and self-motivated leader who thrives on achieving results.
  • Strong Relationship Builder: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to foster relationships with tenants, municipal authorities, and community organizations.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years in retail property management, including team leadership and strategic planning.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to adapt to property management software like Yardi or MRI.
  • Leasing Expertise: Strong knowledge of tenant lease agreements, negotiations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Crisis Management: Demonstrated ability to handle emergency situations and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Sustainability Awareness: Knowledge of energy-efficient building practices and environmental compliance standards, such as LEED or BOMA BEST certifications.
