The Client:

Our client is a privately backed energy and technology company focused on redefining the future of clean power through advanced nuclear innovation. With operations in North America and strategic partnerships across the engineering and regulatory landscape, they are developing a next-generation solution designed to power energy-intensive industries more sustainably. Currently in the early design phase of their modular reactor program, the company is preparing for accelerated growth and is seeking visionary leadership to guide this critical initiative from concept through licensing and beyond.

What you will achieve in this role:

  • Lead a next-generation small modular reactor (SMR) initiative from early-stage concept through to full regulatory approval and commercialization.
  • Act as the central point of contact with licensing authorities, managing technical submissions, site-related filings, and long-term compliance planning.
  • Build partnerships across technical, legal, and environmental stakeholders to support licensing efforts and project progression.
  • Oversee the preparation of licensing documents, risk analyses, and supporting materials in accordance with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Align internal teams and external consultants across engineering, operations, and strategy to drive program momentum.
  • Communicate complex reactor design and safety considerations in plain language to board members, investors, and non-technical leadership.
  • Develop roadmaps and investment narratives that support long-term commercial success and public market readiness.
  • Serve as a key executive voice in regulatory meetings, due diligence sessions, and investor discussions, while promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

What you must bring to this role:

  • Must have a degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or another technically rigorous field; advanced education or certifications are considered an asset.
  • Must bring at least 5 years of experience in nuclear technology, advanced energy systems, or regulatory-facing roles within the energy sector.
  • Must have experience navigating licensing frameworks and regulatory bodies with confidence, ideally including prior experience with modular or non-traditional nuclear systems.
  • Expected to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of working across technical and strategic domains.
  • Requires the ability to synthesize complex scientific information and communicate it clearly to mixed technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial in mindset, self-directed, adaptable, and motivated by the opportunity to scale a high-impact energy solution.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for regulatory meetings, site visits, and executive presentations is expected.

Only those who are qualified will be contacted.
