Toronto’s landmark restaurant for modern Palestinian cuisine is hiring!

Louf restaurant near Casa Loma is looking for a General Manager. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills and menu storytelling abilities. They should be able to build and maintain guest relationships and be eager to train and empower their team in all aspects of service. Responsibilities include driving sales and profitability, identifying potential improvements for the owners, and assisting in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting.

Key responsibilities include ensuring a high customer experience and operational efficiency, hiring, training, reviewing P&L, and making performance improvement recommendations.

Operational Duties

  • Hiring, training, and scheduling staff
  • Reviewing sales to forecast staffing needs
  • Conducting team meetings to discuss operations, sales, feedback, and staff issues
  • Monitoring departmental purchase requests, AR/AP
  • Inspecting store stock with the Head Chef
  • Dealing with vendors and assessing their performance quarterly
  • Ensuring SOP implementation and departmental cleanliness
  • Monitoring inter-departmental coordination
  • Assessing customer satisfaction and service recovery
  • Developing action plans for service improvements
  • Providing feedback to staff
  • Holding weekly marketing meetings and strategizing promotions
  • Working as Manager on Duty when needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned by owners
  • Ensuring superior guest service and handling complaints
  • Adapting to shifting priorities

Human Resource Duties

  • Ensuring SOP adherence and operational checks
  • Training and supporting staff in brand standards and values
  • Identifying training needs and staff development
  • Developing incentive schemes to motivate staff
  • Monitoring sanitation and safety compliance

Administrative / Financial Duties

  • Collaborating on annual budgets and forecasts
  • Managing costs within budgets
  • Setting operational objectives
  • Estimating consumption and maintaining inventory

Marketing Duties

  • Participating in marketing meetings and campaigns
  • Organizing marketing events and photoshoots

Internal Relationships: Directors, Business Development, Marketing & PR, Finance, HR, IT, Staff

External Relationships: Guests, Contractors, Suppliers

Qualifications

This demanding, hands-on role requires teamwork, leadership, and high standards of service. Candidates should work well under pressure and be passionate about hospitality.

Minimum Experience: 2 years in a similar role

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Hospitality-related field is advantageous but not essential.

Job Specific Knowledge & Abilities

Proven success in food service, understanding of restaurant P&L and cash flows, knowledge of Canadian labor law, and proficiency in MS Office and relevant software (Touch Bistro, Open Table, Wisk, 7 Shifts).
