Job description

This role will be hybrid, with in-person work required at one of our SafetyCo locations in Southern Ontario.

SafetyCoLabs is a new workforce education and training venture by SafetyCo. The initiative is designed to modernize workforce training by combining digital learning, industry-aligned curriculum, and direct pathways into employment.

We are looking for a General Manager to lead SafetyCoLabs through conception, launch, growth, and scale. This is a high-ownership leadership role for an operator who knows how to turn an ambitious idea into a functioning, growing business.

The GM will own the overall performance of SafetyCoLabs, bringing together product, technology, sales, partnerships, operations, people, and financial management to build and grow the venture. You will work closely with SafetyCo leadership, education partners, government stakeholders, technology partners, and industry to establish the model, launch the product, build market traction, and create a sustainable operating structure.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, making decisions without having every answer, removing roadblocks, and moving quickly with limited resources. You should be equally comfortable discussing product strategy with a technology team, building relationships with senior stakeholders, developing a go-to-market strategy, reviewing complex budgets, and rolling up your sleeves to solve whatever problem is standing in the way.

Why This Role Exists:

SafetyCoLabs needs a leader who can take ownership of the venture as a whole.

The GM will be accountable for turning the SafetyCoLabs vision into a functioning, market-ready, and growing business. This includes defining how the product comes to market, establishing the operating model, building the right team, developing strategic partnerships, driving sales and adoption, managing financial performance, and ensuring the venture delivers against its objectives.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means:

Product Launch & Market Readiness

You successfully take SafetyCoLabs from development through launch, ensuring the product, technology, learning experience, operations, and supporting infrastructure are ready to perform in market.

Growth & Commercial Performance

You establish and execute a strategy to drive learner adoption, employer engagement, partnerships, and revenue. You understand how to take a digital product to market and build sustainable growth.

Business & Financial Performance

You maintain strong oversight of a significant operating budget ($5M-$10M), resources, and financial commitments while making smart trade-offs that maximize impact and keep the business on track.

Team & Operating Model

You build and lead the team required to operate SafetyCoLabs effectively, establishing clear accountability, decision-making, priorities, and ways of working.

Stakeholder Leadership

You develop trusted relationships with senior leaders, government and funding partners, education institutions, technology providers, employers, and other stakeholders.

Execution Under Pressure

You consistently remove roadblocks, make decisions, and deliver results despite competing priorities, limited resources, evolving requirements, and tight timelines.
