Summary :
The Retail Store General Manager guides the store and the team to provide Legendary Customer Service, increasing sales and profitability. The GM implements strategies, policies, and procedures to maximize operational efficiency and collaborates with retail operations in Canada and the US to share best practices across the division.
Responsibilities :
- Coach, train, motivate, and inspire the team to deliver Legendary Customer Service at all times.
- Manage the store's operations in line with sound business practices and organizational objectives to ensure profitability and positive cash flow.
- Oversee the annual operating budget of the store.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities, including the Canadian Firearms Centre.
- Coach and develop the senior management team, supporting their growth and contributing to succession planning.
- Drive ongoing improvements in the store and across the company, facilitating communication and supporting the implementation of new programs.
- Partner with Human Resources to promote employee engagement and development, managing performance and disciplinary actions per policies.
- Manage and maintain the store's fixed assets, ensuring they are in top condition and protected from loss and obsolescence through policies and regular maintenance.
- Maintain effective communication with the retail management team, staff, and corporate partners.
- Provide regular reports on store operations, financial performance, and future planning.
Qualifications :
- 3-5 years management experience, particularly in big box retail.
- Experience with computerized systems, including POS and inventory management.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Excellent leadership, recruitment, training, and staff development skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other office software.
- Knowledge or experience in outdoor activities and products is preferred.
- Ability to obtain a CFC PAL license.
- Proven ability to operate in a dynamic, continuous improvement environment.
