Summary :
The Retail Store General Manager guides the store and the team as a whole to provide Legendary Customer Service, thereby increasing sales and profitability for the benefit of the company. The GM implements strategies, policies, and procedures to maximize operational efficiency and collaborates with retail operations in Canada and the US to identify and share best practices across the Canadian division.
Responsibilities :
- Coach, train, motivate, and inspire the team to deliver Legendary Customer Service consistently.
- Oversee store operations in line with sound business practices and organizational objectives to ensure profitability and positive cash flow.
- Manage the store's annual operating budget.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities, including the Canadian Firearms Centre.
- Coach and develop the senior management team and contribute to succession planning.
- Drive ongoing improvements and change initiatives, communicate effectively, and support the implementation of new programs.
- Partner with Human Resources to foster employee engagement, manage performance, and handle disciplinary actions per company policies.
- Manage and maintain the store’s fixed assets, ensuring they are in top condition and protected from loss and obsolescence through proper policies and maintenance.
- Maintain effective communication with the retail management team, staff, and corporate partners.
- Provide regular reports on store operations, financial performance, and future planning.
Qualifications :
- 3-5 years of management experience, especially in big box retail environments.
- Experience with computerized systems, including POS and inventory management.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Leadership skills in recruiting, training, motivating, and evaluating staff.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other office software.
- Knowledge or experience related to outdoor activities and products (preferred).
- Ability to obtain a CFC PAL license.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, continuous improvement environment.
