General Manager

Our client, a leading and highly respected organization in the greenhouse and controlled-environment agriculture industry, is seeking a Full-Time General Manager to join their growing and innovative operations team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven and experienced greenhouse leader to oversee large-scale operations while helping shape the future growth and success of a high-performing agricultural business.

Position Summary

The General Manager will be responsible for the overall performance and leadership of greenhouse operations including production, pack area, shipping and receiving, maintenance, quality, food safety, purchasing, inventory, and human resources. This individual will oversee operational scalability, budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and compliance initiatives while ensuring exceptional product quality and operational performance. This role requires a strategic and operationally focused leader with strong greenhouse expertise, financial acumen, and the ability to build a culture centered around accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all operational functions including greenhouse production, maintenance, shipping/receiving, quality, purchasing, inventory, and HR.
• Oversee financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and profitability initiatives.
• Develop and execute operational strategies to optimize labor, production efficiency, and resource utilization.
• Partner with internal departments to support production flow and customer demand requirements.
• Lead employee performance management, workforce development, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, labor standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage greenhouse growing teams and oversee all crop production activities including irrigation, climate control, nutrients, and pest management.
• Drive initiatives to improve product quality, crop yield, operational efficiency, and overall competitiveness.
• Review production reporting and operational data to support business decisions and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 10+ years of greenhouse experience, including leadership within high-tech glass greenhouse operations.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in both Grower and Management capacities.
• Strong knowledge of plant physiology, greenhouse systems, crop production, irrigation, and environmental controls.
• Proven leadership experience managing large teams and complex operations.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning experience.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is considered a strong asset.
• Experience with greenhouse reporting systems such as Priva is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout greenhouse operations for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Comfortable working within a warm, temperature-controlled greenhouse environment.
