Nestled on the picturesque shores of the Northwest Arm, The Waegwoltic Club, fondly known as “The Waeg” has been a cherished gathering place since 1908. As a vibrant, member-owned family club with deep roots and forward momentum, the Waeg offers a unique blend of tradition, recreation, and community. We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and inspiring General Manager to lead the next chapter of The Waeg’s storied journey. We are entering a pivotal chapter with the construction of a new clubhouse. This represents an opportunity to reimagine our operations, elevate member experiences, and position the Club for long-term growth. We are seeking a General Manager who brings demonstrated experience leading transformational change within hospitality, recreation, or club environments.

About the Opportunity

As General Manager, you are more than an operations leader; you are the ambassador of our community and the catalyst for innovation and growth.

Reporting to the Club President and Board of Directors, you will guide the execution of our long-term vision, elevate the member experience, and ensure financial and operational stewardship across all areas of the Club. You’ll lead a talented management team, represent The Waeg in the broader community, and uphold our values while modernizing and innovating for the future.

What You’ll Lead

  • Strategic Leadership & Governance : Work in close partnership with the Board of Directors to develop and execute a forward-looking strategic plan that aligns with the organization’s mission, values, and long-term goals.
  • Financial Stewardship : Oversee budgets, capital investments, and risk management; ensure sound financial oversight in partnership with the Club Controller.
  • Member & Community Engagement : Cultivate a welcoming, engaged, and inclusive culture; strengthen relationships with members, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Operations & Service Excellence : Deliver outstanding recreational and hospitality experiences by overseeing facilities, programming, and capital improvements, while implementing performance management practices to ensure service excellence and continuous improvement across all operational areas.
  • People Leadership & Culture : Inspire and support a dynamic senior team; foster a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.

What you will bring :

Required :

  • Proven senior leadership experience in food and beverage, hospitality, recreation, or related service-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic planning, financial management, and governance engagement.
  • Proven ability to lead organizations through periods of transition, growth, and reinvention
  • Skilled in building future-focused strategies while honoring organizational legacy and culture
  • Experience developing operational frameworks, workflows, and staffing structures to support expanded services and capital investments
  • Strong track record of implementing performance standards, driving accountability, and aligning teams to new goals
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a collaborative, inclusive, and visible leadership style.

Assets :

  • Degree in Business, Hospitality, Recreation Management, or related field.
  • Experience with multi-sport or waterfront facilities, seasonal operations, and not-for-profit governance.
  • Management experience in private club operations.
