Ridley College is looking for a General Maintenance Worker to support the department in completing maintenance work generated from daily operations, facility maintenance, campus activities and capital planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general maintenance repairs such as lock set and door hardware issues, plumbing fixture, drainage issues, minor drywall repairs, painting, light bulb changes, basic electrical work etc.;
Organize, prioritize and complete assigned work orders on a daily basis;
Coordinate and communicate with the Manager of Maintenance & Operations regarding the labour and materials required to complete work;
Work well independently and as a team member to deliver a high level of customer service;
Move and assist with campus furniture moves;
Assist with the set-up of campus activities and events.;
Performs other general maintenance work as assigned by the Manager of Maintenance & Operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work involves heavy lifting, working at heights, pushing, pulling, maneuvering and climbing stairs/ladders on a daily basis;
Working conditions may require you to be in contact with sewage, in cramped quarters, in hot/cold atmospheric conditions and very drafty and dirty areas at times;
Noise is a factor;
High school diploma required;
General repair knowledge and restoration techniques regarding the maintenance and operation of plumbing and electrical fixtures;
General knowledge in the safe use of power hand tools, drain augers and small power tools;
Capability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, complete repetitive tasks and pay attention to detail;
Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
Keeps safety as a number one priority in all activities;
Good communication skills;
Related experience is preferred;
A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance must be obtained prior to start date.
