Summary:
We are seeking a skilled General Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision power transmission products. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, technical drawings, and quality control standards to ensure all products meet specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machines such as lathes, milling machines, and drill presses to fabricate metal parts.
- Interpret technical blueprints and specifications to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
- Measure and inspect completed parts using precision tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Select appropriate tools, materials, and cutting speeds based on the job requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and production team members to improve processes and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
- Document production activities and report any deviations or defects to supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical training program preferred.
- 5+ years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machinery.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures in a machine shop environment.
- Basic computer skills for operating CNC controls and recording data.
- Fluent in English; written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
