Job description

We are currently seeking a General Machinist to join our growing manufacturing facility in Cambridge.

Role: General Machinist

Shift: Days, Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm

Location: Cambridge

Note: Candidates must have prior experience machining weldments on a mill, specifically horizontal boring mills, to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and service equipment via preventive maintenance and repairs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and operational issues
  • Manufacture, modify, and repair tools, jigs, and fixtures per specifications
  • Set up and load raw materials or die sections in machines
  • Operate and program CNC machines using CAD/CAM data (primarily Mastercam)
  • Collaborate with CAD specialists and Toolmakers to refurbish or improve tooling
  • Use various tools and equipment, including grinders, welding, machining, and overhead cranes
  • Maintain high attention to detail and quality standards
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with medium to large horizontal machining centers and boring mills
  • Minimum 5 years' experience machining large castings and weldments
  • Ability to read and edit G & M code
  • Experience selecting and building tooling
  • Knowledge of materials, tool speeds, and feeds
  • Experience with inspection tools and Renishaw probing
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls
  • Experience rigging and loading large parts (up to 15,000 lbs) with overhead cranes
  • Understanding of welding and fabrication processes
  • Ability to train and mentor other machinists/operators
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for machine issues
