Job description

Training Shifts: 7:00am - 3:00pm for the first 3 months.

Permanent Shift: 2:30pm - 10:30pm

As a General Machinist, you will:

  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to perform machining operations according to specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to understand project requirements.

  • Inspect machined parts using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances.

  • Identify and troubleshoot basic machining issues to maintain efficient production.

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery as required.

  • Develop an understanding of different metals and materials and their machining properties.

  • Select and apply appropriate cutting tools and machining parameters for assigned tasks, with guidance as needed.

  • Assist in basic machine rebuilds and contribute to the setup of machinery.

  • Abilityto do machine rebuilds, setup requirements, and assemble machines.

What we look for:

  • Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or equivalent experience in a machining environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Familiarity with using various precision measuring tools.

  • Basic understanding of machining principles and techniques.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

  • Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.

  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 30lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Prior experience rebuilding a Press is considered an asset.
