Compensation:$20 – $25/ hour (full-time / permanent)

Labourers at On Side are important team members who help rebuild and restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Labourers are the MVP of the restoration teams. Willing to learn, love being taught and full of ambition the Labourer knows they’re going places in life and this is the first stop on the way to success!

Water damage in a home or business is one of the most stressful events our clients might ever experience. At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it’s one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls.

Working directly with the Water Damage Technicians, learning the ropes, this position is the steppingstone to becoming a Tech! There will be opportunity to learn all the different jobs as this position is instrumental in helping all teams, not just water damage!

What you bring…

Labourers bring a host of abilities to their workwith a‘get it done!’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

• Physically fit— water damage can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
• Understanding and experience using hand and power tools
• Mechanical aptitude— you can look at something and just know how it works
• Interest in demolition and emergency mitigation
• Capable of using technology to record information as required
• Curious nature, always want to know how things happen, and interest in helping all teams from cleaning to carpentry
• Strong people, teamwork and communication skills
• Attention to detail, ability to follow directions
• A safety mindset
• Valid driver’s licence, clean drivers abstract and a clean criminal record (we do check)
• Ability to communicate in English, written and spoken
• Willingness to do overtime (10 hours days are typical) and working out of town (yes, our jobs do take us out of the city)
• Willingness to shave (if that applies) for Remediation jobs and full face mask fits

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

• Experienced in construction, particularly demolition
• WHMIS
• First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
