General Labourer

About Us:Kubota Materials Canada Corporation specializes in manufacturing high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof. Located in Orillia, Ontario, we lead the industry in quality, advanced technology, and on-time delivery.

Position Overview:Applying for this “General Labourer” position means you will be considered for various entry-level positions with Kubota that we are actively hiring for, including but not limited to:

  • Centrifugal Casting Operator
  • Pattern Repair Person
  • Grinder
  • MERT Operator
  • Pull Bore Operator

Responsibilities will vary based on the assigned role, with a focus on safety, quality, and meeting production standards in a collaborative environment. Candidates selected for consideration will be informed of the specific position they are being evaluated for.

Following the completion of your training, you will be required to rotate shifts in accordance with our CBA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner consistent with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and KMC policies.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring proper housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Wear required PPE specific to the department and job function.
  • Operate equipment and machinery following safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and set production standards.
  • Ensure full traceability of products by maintaining accurate records and following ISO standards.
  • Assist with tasks such as setting up and operating machinery, handling materials, and inspecting finished products for quality.
  • Interpret blueprints or work instructions under guidance, depending on the role.
  • Perform minor maintenance, such as greasing equipment or changing parts, as required.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including overhead cranes and jib hoists.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, reporting equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.
  • Contribute to productivity goals by meeting or exceeding established standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support production needs.

Qualifications:

    • Education: Minimum Grade 12 diploma required.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical instructions is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in a high-temperature environment with exposure to noise and heavy equipment (PPE provided).

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Standing and walking for prolonged periods.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle heavy equipment.
  • Exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, and noise (PPE required).
  • High concentration and focus required in both independent and team settings.

Shift Rotation:

Following the completion of training, you will be required to rotate shifts every two weeks, moving between the day, afternoon, and overnight shifts in accordance with our collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
