ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge is seeking a safe, reliable, motivated, and flexible individual to join our team as a General Labourer at our Cawthra Depot in Mississauga. The General Labourer will execute the daily tasks of maintaining the Depot in accordance with Lafarge’s Best Practices and Policies. The role involves performing various tasks, prioritizing, and executing responsibilities based on their importance.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Maintain the Cawthra Depot in accordance with Lafarge’s Best Practices and Policies.
  • Perform site maintenance tasks, including painting, maintaining signage, sweeping/cleaning/organizing, landscaping, and shoveling.
  • Operate equipment such as CAT 972/980, CAT 908, and forklifts to load customer vehicles, manage the concrete rubble pile, and assist with internal crushing crew tasks.
  • Ensure the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory environmental and safety guidelines, which may include operating a water truck and/or motorized sweeper.
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment as part of the preventative maintenance program.
  • Provide backup support for the scale master, which requires computer literacy.
  • Assist the Portable Recycling Crushing crew as needed.
  • Work at other depots within the GTA as required (travel mileage will be compensated).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required Work Experience: Loader Operator experience is required.
  • Required Training/Certifications: Valid “G” license is required, First Aid, LOTOTO, Specific mobile equipment training, Surface Miner Courses are an asset.
  • Required Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude, Computer literacy.
  • Travel Requirements: Employee will be asked to assist at other depots within the GTA as required. Travel mileage will be compensated. Hours may vary at different locations from home base. Night and weekend work may be required for salt shifts over the winter season on a rotational basis.
  • Additional Requirements: Experience managing concrete rubble pile is an asset, ability to perform manual labor that includes heavy lifting, bending, and twisting while being indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
