Job description

General Laborer Needed

Spirit Employment & Training Edmonton is hiring a General Laborer for manual tasks and support operations in worksites.

A General Laborer's responsibilities include collecting trash, debris, and other waste to keep the site clean and safe. You’ll also handle power tools and materials (such as saws and drills). This position requires stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads.

You should be able to concentrate on performing your tasks and commit to safety rules. If you fit this description and are interested in doing tough but important work, we’d like to meet you.

Key Duties
  1. Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material.
  2. Assist welders, carpenters, painters, or other tradespeople on-site.
  3. Handle and transport materials (e.g., cement) and equipment (e.g., drills and grinders).
  4. Use power tools and machinery (e.g., forklifts) when needed.
  5. Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g., digging, stacking up goods).
  6. Put up warning signs (e.g., signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby.
  7. Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g., scaffolding).
  8. Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
Requirements and Skills
  1. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds, etc.).
  2. Good hand-eye coordination.
  3. Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus.
  4. Communication and teamwork skills.
  5. Commitment to safety rules.

Job Types: Full-time, permanent

Salary: $19 per hour
