Join a dynamic team at a leading hospital in Abbotsford, where you'll manage complex inpatient cases and contribute to teaching future medical professionals. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment, collaborating with various subspecialties while ensuring high-quality patient care. This is more than just a job; it's a chance to make a real impact in the lives of patients and the community.
The Department of Medicine at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) is recruiting one full-time general internist skilled in the management of complex inpatients. The candidate should be hard-working and proficient in managing busy inpatient and outpatient services, prioritizing health authority-based hospital work.
The hospital is a tertiary regional referral centre serving the population of Fraser East. Candidates are expected to be involved in the management of consultation service, general internal medicine ward service, as well as the rapid access clinic. Internists also cover Mission Memorial Hospital, where exercise treadmill tests are provided.
Abbotsford Regional Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with UBC. Candidates will be involved in bedside and/or didactic teaching of medical students, internal medicine residents, and family practice residents. Academic appointment will be through UBC. Eventually, the site will also welcome learners from the new Simon Fraser University medical school.
Do you want to be part of a dynamic team? You will join an existing group of Internists in the development and running of an inpatient General Internal Medicine unit for medically complex patients. The hospital has multiple internal medicine subspecialty services, including but not limited to critical care, cardiology, nephrology, infectious diseases, and more. A separate family practice hospitalist service will look after less complex medical inpatients.
Given the patient care complexity, it is advised that the on-call physician remains close to the hospital after hours. New physicians are expected to share a 1 in 7-8 call eventually. The Internal Medicine group also runs Rapid Access Clinic, Graduated Care Clinic, and Diabetes Clinic at the hospital, and helps provide inpatient services and clinic services at Mission Memorial Hospital.
Our goal is to foster excellence in clinical practice in a collegial atmosphere, with attention to work-life balance and personal and professional development.
